Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Mario Batali The Italian Kitchen Collection Mozzarella SlicerCustomer Review: A guilty pleasure Summary: 4 Stars
I decided to buy this relatively expensive gadget because I was sick of cutting mozzarella di bufala with a knife and then trying to massage the squished pieces back into shape. With this mozzarella slicer, I can get beautifully uniform, perfectly formed slices in seconds, and I love it! The only downside is that the slicer is pretty bulky, so you can't just throw it in a drawer without thinking-- it needs to be assigned its own place, and in my teeny kitchen, storage space is always at a premium.
Description of Mario Batali The Italian Kitchen Collection Mozzarella SlicerThere is nothing like the taste of fresh mozzarella. To create clean, even slices, without flattening, it's best to use a counter top slicer. In his campaign for accessible, delicious food, Mario Batali is one of the most popular chefs and restaurateurs in the world. Created by Copco and inspired by Batali, the Italian Kitchen line of cookware and tools reflects the famous chef's philosophy that great food needs no gimmicks. Durable, versatile, and high quality, the collection is perfect for the active home chef. This stainless-steel wire slicer cuts whole balls of mozzarella into even slices without ruining their shape. Great for making pizza, salads, appetizers, and panini, the slicer has a non-slip base for stability and is corrosion-resistant. The center is evenly shallow to keep a cheese ball from rolling. For easy cleanup, just run this unit through the dishwasher. --Emily Bedard
